Stoping climate change in its tracks can feel like the impossible. The latest science tells us that as of 2019 we have just ten years to halt global temperature rise. If we leave it any longer, it will be too late. Instability in the natural world will generate chaos in human institutions and we will have squandered the immense gifts that trees have given us. But my life and work have taught me that nothing is ever as dire or insurmountable as it seems, and that the natural world’s powers of regeneration and restoration stretch far beyond our understanding. We can save the global forest, our planet and ourselves. Its not complicated. It just takes a spade and a seed. If everyone plants a native tree every year for six years, we will have effectively revived the global forest and stopped climate change in its tracks.
